Weekly Summary

Monday we went on the Laura Ingalls field trip to Carriage Hill Metro Park and learned how people lived in the 1880's. Laura Ingalls probably had to empty out the can that everybody used to go the bathroom in everyday. I told you that would be your job if we lived in the 1880's. And Laura probably had to milk the cow everyday (not fun if you're sick and it's the middle of winter). The tub they used to take a bath in was so tiny. It was about knee high and two feet in diameter. In the afternoon we went to Chick Fil-A for their Milkshake Mania.

Tuesday we celebrated the First Day of Summer and went shopping for summer toys.

Wednesday was Big Brother Day and we rode our bicycles to Chipotle to celebrate with a burrito. You loved using your new combination lock that mommy got for you to keep you bike safe. Mommy gave you a Lincoln Log Castle for being such a great big brother to Breeanna and you had so much fun building it. Breeanna also had so much fun tearing it down.

Later in the evening we did the 5K run at Sugarcreek Metro Park. It was the first race ever where you ran all by yourself without mommy or daddy in tow. Mommy was afraid that you might get lost. There were two places where you had to cross the river that ran knee deep. Thank goodness there were people there to help you cross over. You did the race in about 50 minutes just like the last time. Mommy and Breeanna waited in the shelter. The rain held out till the last 10 minutes when in a blink of an eye the sky turned dark and lightning and thunder bolted menacingly across the sky. I held my breath until I saw you come to finish line. You won a brown bird trophy for finishing third place.

Thursday we didn't go to storytime at Barnes and Nobles or roller skating because mommy got so behind in housework.

Friday, Mrs. Laurie Lang invited us to go to the Booneshoft. We saw the new dinosaur exhibit. Breeanna didn't know what to make of it. She looked a little fearful for a minute. I think her favorite part of the Booneshoft is the dance room. She is so cute standing there trying to dance like all the other kids. In the science room where they house the giant boa constrictor, Breeanna rearrange the sea shells for Booneshoft staff. We went to Wegerzen Metro Park afterwards. The naturalist showed you where the duck was tucked under some evergreen branches trying to shield her new ducklings. And she showed us baby tadpoles that were so tiny that they looked like specks of black sand. You and Breeanna played in the water fall and the stream for an hour after the garden program.

Saturday you and daddy went to Home Depot and did a wood project then daddy took you to Barnes and Nobles and read you twenty books so you could go see your movie on Tuesday. Later in the evening we learned about the octupus. It has arms and not tentacles. You learned that it only lives 5 years and it has suction cups.

Sunday we made a folded paper boat and you drew yourself sailing it. We went over some Hooked on Phonics. Then mommy figured out your pay for this week's work:

10 cents for taking care of Breeanna
5 cents for putting dishes in the kitchen
10 cents for brushing your teeth
5 cents for putting laundry in the laundry room
5 cents for homeschooling
5 cents for washing your hair
0 cents for reading books above and beyond the number of books required to go to the movies
5 cents for helping dad with yard work
5 cents for taking the trash out
5 cents for helping mom take groceries from the car to the kitchen
0 cents for putting dirty clothes in the clothes bin (because mom had to do it)
5 cents for being prepared

65 cents total

We started a new system of dividing money equally into 3 envelopes labeled:

1. Spend
2. Save
3. Give
